The IGive: Jacksonville based music artist Greg “The IGive” East is an energetic and prolific independent Hip Hop emcee, spoken word artist, host and motivational speaker. Armed with a powerful message of spreading love and not hate, The IGive seeks to touch as many individuals as he can with his brand of positive, progressive, yet relatable Hip-Hop. An institution in Duval County’s Hip-Hop and Spoken Word communities, The IGive is the host of The Cypher Open Mic Poetry and Soul and one of the few artists that have been able to successfully traverse both, while remaining authentic to himself and the culture. His all-inclusive approach to making music more than likely contributed to this triumph, as evidenced by his debut album’s, Rhythm & Poetry, effortless blending of Hip-Hop, poetry and Soul music. An ambitious and thought provoking project, The IGive and his main producer, ill Clinton, take the listener on a journey through the mind of The IGive as he tackles everything from the loss of loved ones on Emotional Moment and Dawid’s Song, spreading unity on Not Hate or addressing issues that the urban community face on Say It Ain’t So. And on Meaning of a Classic, The IGive answers his own rhetorical question, “What is the meaning of a Classic?”, by creating a classic Hip-Hop song and album. Rhythm & Poetry has been a critic and fan favorite, with 3 of the album’s songs holding position in the Top 10 Hip-Hop/Rap category on for several weeks. The IGive has collaborated with some of the most respected Hip-Hop, spoken word artists and producers in Jacksonville. Rhythm & Poetry has guest appearances by Mr. Al Pete, Moe the Poet, producer Dorian “Denzity” Lopez and Monica Monet, who he also collaborated with for her Nappy Halo Volume 1 album. And his hit single, Not Hate, featuring Kia Nicole, received comfortable spins on IRIE 105.7 and 105.3 ISM Radio. A dynamic and entertaining performer, The IGive has opened for JanaMorae Bradley’s stage play, Blak. Woman. Dynamik and will appear in her upcoming film, Treacherous. His entertainment company, GiveLove Entertainment, successfully brought The Floacist of UK Soul/Hip-Hop group, Floetry to Jacksonville for a live performance. In January of 2010, he was honored along with 3 other artists, who also released groundbreaking material in 2009, dubbed The Fantastic Four, The IGive and his peers performed to an enthusiastic, standing room only audience at Poppy Love Smoke Cigar and Wine Bar in Downtown Jacksonville. The IGive is currently planning his My Life Rhymes Tour, which he seeks to take throughout Florida and beyond, starting with an appearance on the YourJax Music program on the local CW Network. With ambitions of doing everything from writing to acting to exploring other forms of music, the sky is not the limit for The IGive it is only the beginning and with his all-inclusive approach to his craft and life, he is destined to take Duval with him. The IGive’s CD is available at, and on iTunes. For more information on the IGive, please visit, and, keyword: The IGive.
